The CW isn't straying too far for the Beauty of its update of the '80s Linda Hamilton-Ron Perlman romantic drama: They've cast Smallville's Lana Lang, Kristin Kreuk, as the NYPD detective on the hunt for the monstrous man who saved her life.
According to Deadline, Kreuk has been tapped to play Catherine, described as:
A tough-minded NYPD homicide detective haunted by witnessing her mother's murder nine years ago and the killers' quick demise at the hands of a Beast. After years of searching, Catherine finally finds the Beast, Vincent Koslow, the survivor of a military experiment that went disastrously wrong, and becomes the protector of his secret life as a superhero.
Kreuk is many things—exotic, seasoned, not bad at kicking ass (as her stints on Chuck and Street Fighter showed)—but I'm not quite sure I buy her as a "tough-minded homicide detective."
No word yet on who'll be her Beast, but I'll bet he's ruggedly handsome.
