Filming on J.J. Abrams' Star Trek sequel may be over, but our search for clues to who's playing who isn't. We already think we know who Benedict Cumberbatch is, and now co-star Peter Weller is teasing us with some very vague clues to his role in the flick.
The only concrete information so far about Weller's role has come from his agent, Todd Eisner, who said only that the RoboCop star has a "substantial role" and that he's playing "a CEO." That narrows it down some, but still leaves a wealth of possibilities.
On the red carpet at the Dallas International Film Festival, Weller was certainly doing his part to keep from clearing anything up, though he did throw a couple of cryptic hints our way. Though he claimed he's "sworn to secrecy," he did say that his role is "something very cool," and he was at least willing to respond to speculation that he's an alien.
"No, do I look like an alien to you? No man. Let me put it this way. I have my own ship"
So even as he tried to keep from giving things away, Weller at least narrowed things down for us a little further. Is this a character from franchise past? Is it something entirely new? Start your engines, Trek speculators. Your clues are: CEO, not alien, has a spaceship. And ... GO!
