Look who else may return for Doctor Who's 50th anniversary

With Doctor Who's 50th anniversary coming up right around the bend (it's next year), it's normal that we're getting bombarded with stories and rumors about which former Doctor or which former companion will be stepping back into the TARDIS for what will be the ultimate celebration of Who.

According to The Express (so please take this with a grain of salt), several former companions are set to be lined up for Doctor Who's 50th-anniversay bash.

They claim that: "Plans are afoot for the series to mark its half-century in 'spectacular fashion' and there is growing speculation some of the Time Lord's most famous companions including Amy Pond and Rose Tyler will make cameos."

Their anonymous source Day & Night claims:

"There will be plenty of nods to the show's remarkable history and some old faces are likely to be reappearing. Karen and Billie are two of the Doctor's greatest companions and it's hoped they will be involved."

Which is a bit weird, because Karen Gillan, who plays Amy Pond, has often stated she would never return to Who. She could also be lying—wouldn't be the first time, nor the last, a Who actor-actress-showrunner purposefully lied to misdirect fans of the series.

They also report that former Doctors, including the former Tenth Doctor, David Tennant, could make brief returns to the beloved sci-fi series. Tennant has always claimed he would love to return for the 50th, and so have many former Doctors, including Sylvester McCoy and Tom Baker.

But what's more exciting is that The Express claims that the very first Doctor Who companion (who also happens to be the Doctor's own granddaughter) could also be on board for a return appearance:

It is also understood that Carole Ann Ford, who played the Doctor's first-ever television companion Susan Foreman alongside original Time Lord the late William Hartnell back in the mists of 1963 could be among those appearing.

Again, everyone, massive bucket of salt, still, THAT would be exciting news if it turns out to be true.

So what do you think about this new batch of rumors?
