If you're of the right age—or just the right amount of cool—the setup for The Last Starfighter will trigger a pleasant hit of nostalgia: A coin-op videogame served as a recruitment tool for an interstellar defense force. If you were good enough. Now that game from inside the movie is playable ... right on your PC.
"Greetings, Starfighter. You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the frontier against Xur and the Ko-Dan armada ..." Those are the words that greet Alex Rogan every time he ponies up to the Last Starfighter game, and now they can greet you, too, thanks to a band of code jockeys called Rogue Synapse, who've made a pitch-perfect playable version of the very game from within the movie.
