Rumor of the Day: Bill Murray HATES the Ghostbusters 3 script

We've been waiting more than two decades for Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis to strap on their proton packs one more time, and last we heard the chances for Ghostbusters 3 were good. But not so fast, because now we're hearing that Bill Murray—who always seemed reluctant—hates the new story so much that he shredded his script.

Word of Murray's script shenanigans came from the National Enquirer, which is why we termed this a rumor, but Murray's been holding back on a third flick for so long now that this actually seems plausible. According to "insiders," Murray—who has script approval on the project—has been refusing to take phone calls from the film's producers after they send him rewrites, but he took things a step further with the last batch he received.

Rumor has it that the last draft of the script sent to Murray was sent back to Aykroyd and Ramis completely shredded, with a note that said, "No one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts!"

In response, the same insiders say that Ramis and Aykroyd will now go ahead without Murray for a third Ghosbusters flick, which Sigourney Weaver has apparently also signed on for. Last we heard Aykroyd wanted to get rolling with production in the spring, but with all this drama, who knows if that'll happen?

So would you still go see a Venkman-less Ghostbusters movie? Bill Murray seems to underestimate just how much we really would pay to see fat, old men chasing ghosts, but maybe all is not lost just yet. After all, it is very much just a rumor for now. But if it's not, our Ghostbusters 3 dreams could be dying.
