Last month we mourned the loss of Bruce Campbell's cameo in his pal Sam Raimi's forthcoming Oz: The Great and Powerful. The scene was supposedly dead before it was shot, but now the Chin himself has come forward to tell the world that he shot it after all!
Campbell tweeted back in November that his scene was dead, but he noted that everything was still cool with Raimi, his Evil Dead collaborator, who's put him in nearly all of his movies. But in a new interview, Campbell said he recently took a full day to film on the Oz set, so it looks like that scene survived.
"The scene that I shot was a page and it took all day. It was great to see the scope of Oz and to see the detail, and the craftsmanship and the professionalism and the incredible stuff that they're doing visually in every other way. I play a pivotal role. It involves me and Oz—that's James Franco—and let's just say that we have a confrontation. It was a very fun role to do actually."How "pivotal" Campbell's role might be is probably up for debate, since it's just a cameo, but all of us True Believers will notice him on screen no matter how briefly he appears. There's also—brace yourselves—some chance that the scene could still be cut, but at least now we know it will be viewable in some form, if only as a special feature on a DVD.
