Ben Kingsley joins Harrison Ford as an Ender's Game maybe

After months of knowing nothing, we're now seeing the cast for Ender's Game really take shape. Asa Butterfield is definitely Ender, Hailee Steinfeld is in talks for the role of Petra, and no less than Harrison Ford might wind up as Col. Graff. Now another star could be joining the cast, and this one's been knighted.

Sir Ben Kingsley is in talks to join his Hugo co-star Butterfield in the flick, directed and written by Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine). Adding him to the cast would bring a new level of credibility to the flick. Ford's an iconic and bankable star, yes, but Kingsley is a legendary thespian with an Oscar, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA Award and a SAG Award under his belt. That's a lot of acting hardware.

The film, based on Orson Scott Card's beloved novel, is the story of an Earth under attack by insect-like aliens and the battle school where young soldiers are trained for war. Ender Wiggin (Butterfield) is a young boy so adept at a battle simulation used for training that he's hailed as a possible savior for the human race. Petra (Steinfeld) is one of the few female students at the battle school and Graff (Ford, maybe) is Ender's mentor. If Kingsley's joined this action, he would play a legendary war hero long presumed dead.

We've all had our doubts about this flick, and maybe some of us still do, but if the cast keeps taking shape with talent like this, there's no reason not to get excited.
