TV THIS WEEK: Vampire Diaries' midseason finale, Primeval and more!

Supernatural teen angst is about to take a holiday! The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle are both headed for a two-month hiatus with big midseason finales, thanks to an early fall start. And Primeval is back for its fifth season of nasty critter incursions.

Also this week, a meteor takes out the colony's technology on Terra Nova, Vivien's pregnancy takes a bizarre turn on American Horror Story, the Cartoon Network launches Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Morgan has an Intersect ego problem on Chuck, the Fringe team tries to stop a series of time-loop anomalies, Sam may just be getting married on Supernatural, David Hewlett whips a bunch of angry Yeti into a rampage on Syfy in Rage of the Yeti, Cinderella's tale is told on Once Upon a Time, and Daryl is gravely injured on The Walking Dead.

Monday, Nov. 7



Terra Nova (Fox) 8 p.m. - "Nightfall"

When a meteor crashes, Terra Nova goes dark and the Sixers attempt to take the colony. Meanwhile, Reynolds and Maddy end up on their own in the wilderness.

Ghost Hunters (Syfy) 9 p.m. - "Voices of Pain"

TAPS heads back to Waverly Hill Sanatorium in Louisville for another spooky dose of one of the most haunted places in America.

American Horror Story (FX) 10 p.m. - "Piggy Piggy"

And just when you thought things couldn't get any freakier ... Constance asks Violet to help her with Tate, and Ben takes on a new patient. But what I really wonder about is Vivien's bizarro pregnancy.

The Science Channel's Prophets of Science Fiction (10 p.m.) takes a look at author Mary Shelley's life while writing her classic novel, Frankenstein. And on Syfy's Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files (10 p.m.), the team splits up to investigate a possible fleet of UFOs in Mexico and the spirits of Waverly Hills Sanatorium in "Asylum Apparition; Mystery Over Mexico." Busy place, that Waverly Hills Sanatorium this week.




Thursday, Nov. 10



The Vampire Diaries (The CW) 8 p.m. - "Homecoming"

Midseason finale! Seriously, don't these people know that dances, parties and special events are a BAD IDEA? A really bad idea ... In the "spectacular" midseason finale, Rebekah and Elena share a moment during the homecoming dance, and Klaus puts another evil plot into action. Meanwhile Damon and the gang put their own evil plot into action to stop Klaus. Morning Jacket performs.

The Secret Circle (The CW) 9 p.m. - "Balcoin"

Midseason finale! Yep, you've got about two months to wait till you get more of either Vampire Diaries or Secret Circle. On the "unforgettable" midseason finale, Faye tries to convince the group that Jake is up to no good and Cassie searches for information about her family history in an attempt to discover why she has separate powers from the circle. Meanwhile, there's a new guy in town who piques Diana's interest.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series (Cartoon Network) 7 p.m. - "Beware My Power"

Series premiere! Green Lantern attempts to defend the Guardian Frontier from an invasion by the Red Lantern Corps.

Chuck (NBC) 8 p.m. - "Chuck Versus the Frosted Tips"

A Morgan-dyes-his-hair alert! A mission to stop a most wanted bad guy hits a snag when Chuck suspects Morgan's ego might be getting in the way. Meanwhile, Sarah offers Casey relationship advice involving Gertrude, and Awesome discovers something shocking about Jeff and Lester.


Grimm (NBC) 9 p.m. - "Beeware"

Nick and Hank investigate when a flash-mob scene leads to murder. Meanwhile, the Grimm tries to learn more about his family's past.


Fringe (Fox) 9 p.m. - "And Those We've Left Behind"

When time-loop anomalies start wreaking havoc, an electrical engineer (Stephen Root) and his theoretical physicist wife (Romy Rosemont) try to help the Fringe team figure out a pattern and a way to stop the events.

Supernatural (The CW) 9 p.m. - "Time for a Wedding"

A Sam's-getting-married alert! Or is he? We'll just have to see when Dean, while on a hunt, accidentally bursts in on Sam's wedding. Meanwhile, Dean teams up with another hunter. Think Dean will end up being Sam's best man?

Sanctuary (Syfy) 10 p.m. - "Homecoming"

Robin Dunne, who plays Will, makes his directorial debut with this episode, which involves Magnus getting caught up in an Abnormal scheme, while trouble finds Will at the Liberian Sanctuary

On the Cartoon Network, there are new episodes of Generator Rex (6 p.m.), Young Justice (6:30 p.m.), Star Wars: The Clone Wars (8 p.m.) and ThunderCats (8:30 p.m.).

On CBS's A Gifted Man (8 p.m.), when a brain tumor patient of Michael's commits a terrible crime, he has to decide whether to save the man's life "In Case of Exposure." On the CW's Nikita (8 p.m.), Michael tries to save a troubled Cassandra in "London Calling." On the Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures (10 p.m.), the team returns to Virginia City for a ghost hunt. And on the channel's The Dead Files (10 p.m.), Amy and Steve probe a Florida couple's home, which may have had a violent past, in "Killed By The Klan - Key West, FL."




Saturday, Nov. 12



Primeval (BBC America) 9 p.m. - "Episode 1"

Season-five premiere! The team goes on a hunt for a gigantic burrowing creature that moves underground. Meanwhile, anomalies start to become more unpredictable and dangerous. There are six episodes in season five, and with production wrapping a year ago and no announcements that the show's continuing, this could be the end of the series. However, a Canadian spinoff called Primeval: The New World is in the works.

Rage of the Yeti (Syfy) 9 p.m.

Stargate's David Hewlett directed this Syfy Saturday Night Original, which explores what happens when a group of treasure hunters run into some really, really, really angry and hungry Yeti in the Arctic. The film reunites Witchblade's Yancy Butler and David Chokachi.

Has The Walking Dead wandered into the wrong horror show? Daryl is terribly injured while searching the woods for the missing girl, which undoubtedly won't be a good thing when he runs into walkers. Meanwhile, Glenn gets mixed romantic signals from Maggie.
