TV THIS WEEK: Walking Dead returns, Star Trek meets Big Bang and more!

The long-awaited second season of AMC's zombiefest The Walking Dead finally arrives this week with a super-sized premiere. Next Generation's Wil Wheaton and Brent Spiner pop up on The Big Bang Theory—and there's hints that Peter might return (or not!) on Fringe.

Also—this week there's an outbreak that hits a little close to home for Jim on Terra Nova, Tracy Morgan returns with more scares on Scare Tactics, TAPS investigates New York's Friars Club on Ghost Hunters, Vivien and Violet end up in a desperate situation on American Horror Story, it's High School Prank Night and you know that can't be a good thing on The Vampire Diaries, someone gets demonized on The Secret Circle, Reese tries to protect a female doctor on Person of Interest, Michael has a patient who's hearing things on A Gifted Man, an Egyptian god puts Dean on trial on Supernatural, Abnormals revolt on Sanctuary, Jed has a hot and heavy reaction to a stranger on Bedlam, Syfy gets 30 Days of Dark: Dark Days in L.A., of all places, and a trucker takes some stranded strangers for a real ride on Prowl.

While Ben heads to Boston to put some lingering issues to rest, Vivien and Violet find themselves trapped in a terrifying situation that is oddly similar to an event in the house's past.

The Vampire Diaries (The CW) 8 p.m. - "The Reckoning"

High School Prank Night has deadly consequences for the folk of Mystic Falls. Meanwhile, Klaus attempts to tighten his grip on Stefan, and Damon plots to get Jeremy and his spirit connections to help him defeat the villainous vamp.

The Secret Circle (The CW) 9 p.m. - "Slither"

Melissa tries to get Nick to help her locate her family's Book of Shadows. Elsewhere, Diana plans a date night with Adam, and Dawn and Charles plot their plans for the circle. However, we're thinking the real excitement is going to come from that demon that's found a new home after last week's events.

This sequel to 30 Days of Night, about the massacre of the local population of Barstow, Alaska, by vampires, follows Stella (Kiele Sanchez) as she moves to L.A. and takes out her anger on the local vamp population.

The Walking Dead (AMC) 9 p.m. - "What Lies Ahead"

It's a 90-minute season-two premiere! The Walking Dead are back to walk again! Rick and the survivors leave Atlanta and find more zombie challenges in their future. Meanwhile, Shane wants to leave the group.

Prowl (Syfy) 9 p.m.

Okay. If a trucker ever offers you a ride after your car breaks down on a deserted highway, RUN. In this Sunday night Syfy movie, a group of young adults accept a ride from a trucker and end up on the menu of a hungry pack of flesh-eating creatures in an abandoned warehouse.
