2 new Thing clips will have you checking out your friends' teeth

Back in 1982—and still today—John Carpenter's The Thing managed to scare the crap out of film viewers because of the intense feeling of fear and paranoia that resulted from the members of the doomed U.S. Antarctic expedition not knowing WHO amongst them was being impersonated by a really creepy, murderous alien thing.

Fast forward to 2011, and fear and paranoia is still on The Thing prequel's menu, as you can see (again) by these two new tense clips recently released by Universal on its MySpace page. (Yup, we're also wondering who's still really using that, too.)

Check out the two new clips below:

Ahhh. Nothing like finding a couple of bloody spit-out fillings to make you wonder if the person standing next to you is either human or a scary morphic alien monster out to kill and impersonate you.

So what do you do in such a situation? Why, you lock everyone up in the same room and have someone scared to death—and maybe even a tiny bit unhinged—carry a big-ass flamethrower, that's what.

That's what we'd all do in the same situation, right? It sure works wonders in a horror film.

Director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr.'s The Thing prequel starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton hits theatres on October 14th. Just in time to spook us all for Halloween. Will you be watching?
