'Tis the season to let your freak flag fly, and if you're looking to shake up your Halloween ensemble—or just find something a little more contoured to wear—you could do far worse than one of these Rule 63-inspired numbers.

Rule 63 is, as I'm sure you already know, the rule of "the Internet" which states that for any given male character, there's a female version of that character, and vice versa. Which, when you're talking about obscure anime, doesn't really make a difference, since so much of it is so androgynous anyway. (Yes, I'm generalizing, I know.)

But if you're dealing with popular sci-fi/fantasy/comic book/videogame characters, it makes a simultaneously confusing and stimulating night out. Here, for the 14th in our series of 31 posts for the 31 days of Halloween, is a mere sampling of what the gender-bending cosplay universe has to offer.
