11 creepy cocktails to help you celebrate Halloween

Let's face it, Halloween can be a very thirsty time. All that pumpkin carving and trick-or-treating can leave a body severely dehydrated. Don't worry, though. Master mixologists inspired by the spookiest time of year have created some bewitching beverages.

For the 31st installment in our 31 Days of Halloween series, belly up to the Blastr bar and take a sip of some spine-chilling spirits. Pick your poison ... responsibly, of course.


PINA GHOULADA

Makes 10 to 12 eight-ounce servings
Blended mixture can be made several hours in advance and chilled

3 tablespoons corn syrup (for the blood)
1/4 teaspoon red food coloring plus more for rims

20 ounces pineapple juice
1 fifteen-ounce can cream of coconut
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 cup orange juice
10 ounces good-quality rum

PUMPKIN CAIPIRINHA

2 oz. Leblon cachaça
1 oz. pumpkin spice syrup
1/4 oz. French vanilla syrup
½ oz. Frangelico
1 tbsp. pumpkin puree
1 dash orange juice
1 dash nutmeg & cinnamon

In a cocktail shaker, shake all ingredients vigorously with ice. Strain into a frosted cocktail glass. Garnish with a dash of nutmeg and cinnamon.

ASHES TO ASHES

1 1/2 oz. Espolón Tequila Reposado?
1/2 oz. Pedro Ximenez sherry
1 oz. lemon juice
1 tsp. sweetened cocoa mix
1/4 oz. agave nectar
1 pinch ground cinnamon

Place ingredients in a mixing glass, fill with ice, cover and shake well for 10 seconds. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with cinnamon dust.

BLACK CLOUD COCKTAIL

1/2 cup orange soda
1 cup orange juice
1 shot orange liqueur
2 shots black vodka
2 peppermint sticks
2 licorice wheels

In a small pitcher combine the orange soda, orange juice and orange liqueur. Divide evenly between two martini glasses. Hold a teaspoon measure upside down over the glass, pour shot of black vodka on top of the orange juice mixture so that it floats on top.

GHOUL-ADE HALLOWEEN PUNCH

1 quart bottle sparkling apple cider
1 quart bottle cranberry juice cocktail
1 liter bottle ginger ale
2 cups pineapple juice
750 ml of Vodka or Rum of choice
Ice cubes

BRAIN HEMORRHAGE

1 ounce peach schnapps or 1 ounce strawberry schnapps
1 teaspoon Baileys Irish Cream or 1 teaspoon Amarula Cream liqueur
2 drops grenadine

Pour schnapps into shot glass. Slowly pour in the Baileys Irish Cream. Do not mix! After the cream clumps together add grenadine over the brain. Devour!

THE VAMPIRE'S KISS

1 part vodka, chilled
1 part Champagne
1 part Chambord

Rim martini glass with red cake icing. Garnish with wax teeth/candy corn/blood orange slice

Pour vodka in glass over wax teeth, top with Champagne and pour a little of the Chambord over the back of a spoon to make it float.

CANDY CORN COCKTAIL

2 oz. SKYY Infusions Pineapple
1.5 oz. Orange sherbet, softened
1 oz. pineapple Juice
1 oz. milk
1 oz. simple syrup

Combine SKYY Infusions Pineapple and pineapple juice in cocktail shaker with ice. Strain over fresh ice into a clear Collins glass. Combine sherbet and ice in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Strain, and pour over bar spoon to layer in the glass. Then combine simple syrup and milk in cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Layer milk mixture on top of sorbet. Garnish with pineapple and candy corn.

NON-ALCOHOLIC POISON APPLE PUNCH

2 parts spiced apple juice
1 part ginger beer
0.5 part raspberry syrup

Add all ingredients to a punch bowl and give a stir

Garnish with the discarded cinnamon and cloves from the spiced apple juice, with sliced apples

2 oz. premium gin or vodka
1/4 oz. dry vermouth

1 radish
1 pimento-stuffed green olive

Eyeball: Peel radish, leaving root end and thin streaks of red skin intact to resemble blood vessels. Using tip of small knife or melon baller, scoop out hole in top of radish; stuff with olive, pimento side up.
