After the success of The First Avenger, Captain America is surely going to go solo again for a sequel once he appears in The Avengers, but—with what kind of story? And which villain will he have to face this time?
Christopher Markus, one of the screenwriters for First Avenger and Captain America 2, has an idea for another World War II storyline that involves another Cosmic Cube mutated foe a la Red Skull—
According to Markus, "I love MODOK and I think you could make a terrifying movie with MODOK but nobody seems to be on my side at the moment."
What's even more interesting is that the writer suggests that Peter Dinklage, one of the many stars in Game of Thrones, be turned into this Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing.
"I will win you over to Peter Dinklage as MODOK," said Markus, "If he came around the corner and you saw him floating there you would be terrified. It would be amazing."
For those unaware, MODOK first appeared in 1967 as a nod to sci-fi surrealism by co-creator Jack Kirby. A normal technician, George Tarleton, became the mad-headed being after an experiment went wrong involving the Cosmic Cube. The bulk of the storyline Markus might suggest could involve Captain America saving a captured S.H.I.E.L.D. agent known as Agent 13 who is sent to gather intelligence on the organization A.I.M., thus encountering MODOK along the way.
Would you be interested in another World War II storyline involving a slightly exaggerated villain? Or would you be more interesting in the more grounded Winter Soldier storyline?
And how about Dinklage as MODOK?
