The 6 things you'll want to see most the first day of Comic-Con

The schedule for day one of Comic-Con 2011—Thursday, July 21—has been released, and here are six of the events and panels you just can't miss!

Sneak peeks of Alcatraz and Person of Interest

This is actually happening on Wednesday night (July 20), better known as Preview Night, so get there early: The pilots for J.J. Abrams' new series Alcatraz and Jonathan "brother of Christopher" Nolan's Person of Interest will be shown in Ballroom 20. Both shows look intriguing, so make sure you're there at 6:00 p.m. to get an early glimpse!

Twi-hards descend on San Diego

We know there's a few of you out there, and you're probably already camping out in front of Hall H for the Breaking Dawn panel. K-Stew, R-Pattz and T-Laut will be there to hear the screaming masses assembled for the first look at the Twilight finale. For the rest of us, it's either an annoyance or an amusing spectacle, and luckily it's all over by Thursday afternoon!

DC Comics faces your wrath!

Want to speak to the braintrust at DC Comics about their new Flashpoint series and the upcoming reboot of the entire line? Well, this panel will give you a chance to do both! DC editor Eddie Berganza and other members of his creative team will be on hand to bear the slings and arrows of aggrieved fans.

George R.R. Martin moderates Game of Thrones panel!

The legendary author himself will preside over a panel on the hit HBO series based on his A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series. Cast members scheduled to appear include Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo). This is going to be one of the hottest panels of the weekend, without a doubt!

20th Century Fox mystery panel

Not a Game of Thrones fan? Well, right at the same time will be the 20th Century Fox panel. The studio has not yet announced which films it will be bringing, but you can bet that Rise of the Planet of the Apes will be there for sure. Is it possible we'll get sneak peeks at Prometheus and the 3-D conversions of Star Wars as well? Stay tuned!

Jon Favreau and Guillermo del Toro team for epic interview

Comic-Con usually hosts one of these dream interviews each year: Two years ago they had Peter Jackson and James Cameron share the stage, while 2010 featured Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams. This time around it's Jon Favreau, director of Iron Man and Cowboys & Aliens, and big ol' Guillermo del Toro, who will be talking about his upcoming epic Pacific Rim for the first time. A clash of the titans indeed!
