Karl Urban's stare says 'Don't @#$! with me' in latest Dredd pic

Karl Urban is taking the leap from Leonard "Bones" McCoy to Judge Dredd in the movie aptly titled—Dredd. A new official photo of the actor in character has been released, and it looks like Urban is channeling his inner Zoolander with Blue Steel.

Most of us remember Judge Dredd from the 1995 sci-fi film of the same name that starred Sylvester Stallone as the title character. Urban definitely doesn't have the mass or exaggerated physique that Stallone possessed, but we're hoping he can make the role his own. He doesn't need to be a carbon copy.

For the most part, the design of the costume and helmet stay true to what we've seen in the comic and the previous film. It's great that we finally have a clear visual of what Urban's version of the character looks like—but what about the rest of the cast?

Dredd also stars Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), who plays Madeline "Ma-Ma" Madrigal. We'd love to see something with her on set or in costume. Dredd is scheduled to hit U.K. theaters on Dec. 1, but nothing's been announced for U.S. audiences. If they can't give us a release date or a trailer, we guess this photo will have to suffice.

What do you think of Urban as Judge Dredd?
