Bruce Campbell says Evil Dead 4 will be 'scary as hell'

You know that fourth entry in the Evil Dead franchise we've all been waiting for, for a very long time now? The one we talked about way back when in January? Well, it's still happening, and according to the King himself—Bruce "Ash" Campbell—it'll be cool and scary as hell.

This is what Dread Central is reporting:

Dread Central has it on good authority from a very reliable source that long-time Sam Raimi editor Bob Murawski (Army of Darkness; Spider-man, Drag me to Hell) has packed up and headed out to Detroit to begin work on the long talked about fourth entry into the Evil Dead franchise, which will be "a small indie thing like the first two."

Hum, right, let's just pause for a short sec here.

What do they exactly mean by a fourth entry? Are we to believe it's a direct sequel to Army of Darkness, which could then perhaps include everyone's favorite chainsaw-wielding, deadite-bashing "S-Mart" employee, Ash (Campbell)?

Or is this still the planned remake Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell have talked about a gazillion times before? (Which could also see the return of Ash as well. Just sayin'.)

Could all become a bit confusing, calling it the fourth entry in the Evil Dead franchise, but our money's on this film being the remake—which Bruce Campbell kinda confirmed.

According to Dread Central again:

According to Bruce Campbell's official website,, Bruce officially joined Twitter over the weekend (follow @GroovyBruce). On his Twitter site Bruce was questioned by a fan who stated, "I won't believe in a new Evil Dead film until I see it. Or at least not until @GroovyBruce tells me to believe in it," to which Campbell responded, "Believe in the remake, dawg! The project is real. In the works. Cool as hell. Scary as hell." More as it comes.

So what do you think is going on? (And what do you WANT to be going on?)
