New King Kong pic to be from Kong's POV ... and animated!

King Kong is one of sci-fi's most beloved monsters: a misunderstood giant ape who wreaks havoc with his colossal presence. But soon he'll have a chance to explain his side of the story.

According to Deadline, King Kong will be given a voice in an upcoming animated movie. Deadline calls it "a modern-day twist on the King Kong story."

[The untitled King Kong film] will tell the story from the vantage point of the ape. It's an interesting take on the material, because let's face it, Kong got a bum deal and had no way to verbally complain about it. It is based on a story by Mike Weber, who'll also produce.

In the both the 1933 and 2005 versions of King Kong, Kong fell for a blond beauty, and his affection led to his demise, as told in the famous last words, "It wasn't the airplanes. It was Beauty killed the Beast." Perhaps in this new pic (whose release date is still undetermined), Kong will be able to explain what he ever saw in that Ann Darrow character anyway.

So what do you think? It is a good idea for the big ape to get animated this time around?
