New action-packed (and Americanized) Torchwood: Miracle Day clip

Torchwood: Miracle Day finally has the attention of the mainstream press: Access Hollywood, an entertainment news and gossip show, gave us a look at the newest escapades of Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper. And that look is full of what makes Torchwood great ... but on steroids.

The clip below shows all of the intense action that we love in Torchwood ... but typically in the past the intensity has come from character interaction and moral complexity. Here we get explosions, a car crash, stunt work and Gwen Cooper shooting a gun while holding her baby.

Will Torchwood: Miracle Day be too American? We sincerely doubt it. Torchwood's creators have proved they have a strong vision that happens to appeal to an American audience. Only now, with American television channel Starz backing them, they have a serious budget to play with.

Note: Access Hollywood called Torchwood "a gripping new Starz drama series." We assume they didn't realize that Torchwood was co-produced by Starz but is actually a BBC TV show in its fourth season.

It doesn't help that Starz is calling Torchwood "A Starz original series."
