5 of the top 10 most-paused movie moments ... are sci-fi

We've don't just pause movies for bathroom breaks. Many of us pause our DVDs and Blu-rays to get a more careful look at a particular shot. And 15 percent of the time, that shot involves a stormtrooper bashing his head.

It turns out that sci-fi films account for half of the top 10 most paused moments in film. Other moments besides the epic trooper fail in Star Wars include a cameo of Pac-Man in Tron and a glimpse of Captain America's shield on a desk in Iron Man 2.

It doesn't surprise us at all to learn that five of the most paused moments involve nudity, but the only genre movie that involves potential nudity is a look up Jessica Rabbit's dress in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?.

According to LoveFilm, Europe's answer to Netflix, with streaming video and a rent-by-mail service, the top 10 most paused moments in film are:

1. Sharon Stone crossing her legs - Basic Instinct (1992) - 31 percent
2. Jennifer Lopez naked - The Back-Up Plan (2010) - 16 percent
3. Stormtrooper bangs his head - Star Wars - Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) - 15 percent
4. Jamie Lee Curtis flash - Trading Places (1983) - 8 percent
5. Jessica Rabbit goes commando - Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988) - 6 percent
6. Brad Pitt flashes behind doctor in hospital - Fight Club (1999) - 5 percent
7. Captain America's shield appears on desk - Iron Man 2 (2010) - 4 percent
8. Dust spells out 'S.F.X' - The Lion King (1994) - 3 percent
9. Pac-Man Cameo - Tron (1982) -2 percent
10. Nicole Kidman flash - Eyes Wide Shut (1999) - 1 percent

Snopes, a reference site that proves and disproves urban legends, says that nudity in Roger Rabbit is inconclusive. But there's nothing inconclusive about the trooper's headbanging incident.
