The rumor mill has churned up another prestigious actor's name as a possible contender for a role in Superman—but what part would he be playing?
Accordng to Moviehole, director Zack Snyder and the producers of the new Superman film (which include Christopher Nolan) are looking at Daniel Day-Lewis for an unspecified role in the movie. Day-Lewis, a world-class actor who is notoriously choosy about the roles he takes on, tends to stay away from mainstream Hollywood fare, so at first glance a role in a comic-book blockbuster seems like something he'd pass on.
But if he is interested in doing something a little out of his wheelhouse, what role would he be playing? We've already heard that Viggo Mortensen is the frontrunner to play General Zod. But if scheduling conflicts take Mortensen out of the running, could Day-Lewis be next on the filmmakers' list to play the Kryptonian tyrant?
All of this is conjecture at this point: The only cast member still officially confirmed is Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel himself. Our suggestion? Ditch Zod (since we've seen him already in two previous movies), hire Day-Lewis, paint him green and call him Brainiac. From our mouths to Snyder and Nolan's ears ...
