Hugh Jackman says The Wolverine will STILL happen

Even after the departure of his chosen director, The Fountain's Darren Aronofsky, Jackman has faith that his Japan-set sequel will still get off the ground. Good thing, too, as he's still bulking up to strap on the claws.

After Aronosfky departed The Wolverine—citing an unwillingness to be separated from his family for what would be a lengthy overseas production—Jackman was left holding the bag, in which there was nothing but Oscar winner Christopher McQuarrie's script, with his increasingly muscled hands.

But at this year's CinemaCon, Jackman reiterated his commitment:

"Now we're out looking for a director. ... We were pretty much ready to go. The script is fantastic—the best we've ever had, which is why it attracted Darren in the first place. His personal situation precludes him from doing it now, and I feel for him. But now we need to find a director. ... We're not going to settle. We're going to find a director as good as Darren, if not better. Well, as good."

Let's hope so, because I'm sure Brett Ratner is chomping at the bit.
