TV THIS WEEK: Chloe returns to Smallville, Archer's back and more!

The CW returns with its supernatural lineup as Tyler and Caroline get busy on The Vampire Diaries, Allison Mack's back as Chloe on Smallville, and Sam and Dean hunt for virgins on Supernatural. Also, the very funny Archer returns to FX for a second season.

And Sarah goes undercover on Chuck, Max plans a train heist on The Cape, Sally learns how she died on Being Human, Being Erica time-travels to a third season, Alex experiences life away from Division on Nikita, the doomsday device is built on Fringe, Arthur and Merlin find trouble on Merlin, Connor and Abby track a labyrinthodont on Primeval, and 1980s pop stars battle on Syfy's Saturday night movie, Mega Python vs. Gatoroid.

Monday, Jan. 24

Chuck (NBC) 8 p.m. - "Chuck Versus the Gobbler"

Sarah goes undercover to help Mama Bartowski (Linda Hamilton) take out the villainous Volkoff (Timothy Dalton). Meanwhile, Ellie and Awesome battle over baby names.

The Cape (NBC) 9 p.m. - "Scales"

The Cape plants a tip about stolen money, which prompts Scales to confront his partner, Peter Fleming, during a costume party on a train. Meanwhile, Max's crew plots a robbery aboard the train, leaving the Cape and Orwell to try to figure out a way to stop them.

Being Human (Syfy) 9 p.m. - "There Goes the Neighborhood, Part 2"

Part 2 of 2! We find out more about the roomates, including how Sally died. Meanwhile, Aidan gets a surprise and Josh gets a visit from a member of his family.

Ghost Hunters International (Syfy) 9 p.m. - "Amsterdamned: Netherlands"

The GHI team takes on the Huissen House and the Ijmuiden Fortress in the Netherlands.

Being Erica (SOAPnet) 11 p.m. - "The Rabbit Hole"

Season-three premiere! Last season Erica decided to go through a door to face the unknown. In the season opener, having gone through the door, Erica discovers everything's changed with her job, her personal life and even her therapy with Dr. Tom.

On PBS's Nova scienceNow (8 p.m.) it's a look at how to extend human life in "Can We Live Forever?" Then the channel's Nova (9 p.m.) digs into nanotechnology in "Making Stuff," the second of a four-part series. And on the series premiere of Syfy's Face Off (10 p.m.), the new reality competition pits special-effects makeup artists against each other for fabulous prizes.

Thursday, Jan. 27

The Vampire Diaries (The CW) 8 p.m. - "The Descent"

It's back, and it's taking on American Idol! Looks like we get to find out what actually happens when a vampire gets bitten by a werewolf, as Damon tries to save Rose from her bite but she starts to go off the deep end. Elsewhere, Tyler and Caroline express their true feelings for each other.

Nikita (The CW) 9 p.m. - "Free"

Returns with new episodes! Now that Alex is an agent, she struggles to adapt, and a new neighbor invites her to a party. Meanwhile, Nikita discovers that a kill chip has been implanted in Alex's head, leading her to take action.

Archer (FX) 10 p.m. - "Swiss Miss"

Season-two premiere! The ISIS team heads to the Swiss ski resort Gstaad to protect a billionaire's teen daughter from kidnappers, but really they're hoping the billionaire will invest in their insolvent spy agency. Unfortunately, the girl's more interested in seducing Archer, who keeps getting caught in compromising situations.

Friday, Jan. 28

UPDATE 1/27/11: Both the CW and Syfy completely changed their schedule at the last minute and decided to run reruns of The Vampire Diairies, Nikita and Being Human, postponing originals of Smallville, Supernatural and Merlin until next week. So consider the descriptions below a preview of what's to come on Friday, Feb. 4.

Smallville (The CW) 8 p.m. - "Collateral"

Allison Mack alert! Chloe's back, but her motivations are questioned after the VRA releases Clark, Oliver, Lois and Dinah and they have flashbacks that Chloe was involved.

Supernatural (The CW) 9 p.m. - "Like a Virgin"

Returns with new episodes! Yep, new episodes, so now we finally get to see if Death can put Sam's soul back where it belongs. Luckily, Sam and Dean have missing virgins to keep them occupied, a case that somehow involves dragons and a quest for Dean where he must prove he's worthy to claim a dragon-slaying weapon.

Fringe (Fox) 9 p.m. - "Reciprocity"

When the doomsday device is put together at Massive Dynamic, Walter asks Nina to help him understand Peter's relationship to the device. Anybody else (besides me and Walter) think it's a bad idea to put together this ominous-looking thing?

Merlin (Syfy) 10 p.m. - "Gwaine"

When Arthur and Merlin are outnumbered during a tavern brawl, the enigmatic Gwaine (Eoin Macken) comes to the rescue. However, when he's injured, they take him to Camelot to recover, and it isn't long before Gwaine's causing trouble.

Connor and Abby head off to a small coastal town to investigate a strange anomaly and discover a deadly labyrinthodont. Meanwhile, Matt's on the hunt for the missing Emily.

Mega Python vs. Gatoroid (Syfy) 9 p.m.

It's giant pythons versus really, really big alligators, which is nothing compared to 1980s pop stars Debbie Gibson and Tiffany going at it.
