Seth Rogen says George Lucas REALLY thinks world will end in 2012

You know all that stuff about the Mayan calendar predicting that the world will end in 2012? Well, at least one person apparently believes it ... and his name is George Lucas.

According to the Toronto Sun, Green Hornet star Seth Rogen recalled taking a meeting with Lucas and Steven Spielberg about a movie when the conversation quickly turned to the Mayan apocalypse, which is scheduled to happen next year (Dec. 21, to be exact).

Rogen said, "George Lucas sits down and seriously proceeds to talk for around 25 minutes about how he thinks the world is gonna end in the year 2012, like, for real. He thinks it. He's going on about the tectonic plates and all the time Spielberg is, like, rolling his eyes, like, 'My nerdy friend won't shut up, I'm sorry ... '"

Rogen added that he first thought Lucas was joking, but then realized that the famed filmmaker was serious: "I started thinking, 'If you're George Lucas and you actually think the world is gonna end in a year, there's no way you haven't built a spaceship for yourself ... So I asked him ... 'Can I have a seat on it?'

"He claimed he didn't have a spaceship, but there's no doubt there's a Millennium Falcon in a garage somewhere with a pilot just waiting to go ... It's gonna be him and Steven Spielberg and I'll be blown up like the rest of us."

Given the unlikely nature of this story, a couple of burning questions immediately come to mind: First, what possible movie could Seth Rogen be meeting with George Lucas AND Steven Spielberg about (surely not a role in Indiana Jones 5)? And second, if Lucas really does believe the world will end next year, will he at least put the original versions of the first three Star Wars movies on Blu-ray before it's all over?

What do you think? Is George Lucas off his rocker, or is Seth Rogen just pulling everyone's leg? Do you believe the world will end in 2012?
