Poor Nathan Fillion. His bid to become Nathan Drake in the upcoming movie adaptation of the very popular game Uncharted: Drake's Fortune has ended—because Mark Wahlberg just confirmed that HE IS Drake.
Written and directed by David O. Russell, Uncharted features Nathan Drake, the descendant of Sir Francis Drake, who's a modern-times Indiana Jones-type treasure hunter with a sharp tongue and a flair for quick repartee (and even quicker gun-toting and bad-guy-punching). Oh, and he also has great hair.
Wahlberg told MTV:
"David is one of the best writer/directors I've ever worked with. The idea that he has is just insane. So hopefully we'll be making that movie this summer."
Many had hoped to see Firefly's Captain Tight Pants himself play the role, with Fillion even urging his fans to start a Twitter campaign on his behalf. It's the second time the popular actor's lost a role the fans would have loved to see him in (the first one was Green Lantern).
Wahlberg's no stranger to playing a video-game character, having starred in 2008's Max Payne as the title character. And he's no stranger to action or sci-fi movies, either.
So—are you guys happy or disappointed with the casting of Mark Wahlberg as Nathan Drake?
