Sneak peek: 19 pics of Matt Smith's Sarah Jane Adventures episode

You know the Sarah Jane Adventures episode that will explain the change to Doctor Who's regeneration limit that everybody's been talking about? We've got our first look at it now that the BBC has released behind-the-scenes pics and promo shots from "Death of the Doctor," featuring Matt Smith.

Starring Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith, and seeing the return of Katy Manning as Jo Grant (who was former companion to the third Doctor, played by Jon Pertwee, and was last seen in 1973's episode The Green Death), "Death of the Doctor" was written by Russell T Davies, marking the first time that the former Doctor Who show runner will write for the 11th Doctor.

Here's the official BBC synopsis for the episode:

Matt Smith, Laila Rouass and Katy Manning guest star in Death Of The Doctor, written by Russell T Davies.

When The Doctor is declared dead, old companions Sarah Jane and Jo Grant meet for the very first time and join forces to discover the truth. As an interstellar conspiracy gathers around Unit HQ, Clyde finds that he holds the fate of the Time Lord in his hand—quite literally!

Old friends fight together to make one last stand against the sinister Shansheeth. But with Clyde and Rani trapped and in terrible danger, Sarah Jane and Jo Grant realise their worst fears—their friendship with the Doctor might be the very thing that dooms them.

The Doctor is played by Matt Smith, Sarah Jane by Elisabeth Sladen, Jo Grant by Katy Manning, Clyde by Daniel Anthony, Rani by Anjli Mohindra and Colonel Karim by Laila Rouass.

"Death of the Doctor" will air in the U.K. on Oct. 25 and 26. Now, would someone please pick up the series here in North America?
