Battlestar Galactica's Ron Moore may reimagine Wild, Wild West

Ron Moore, the man most responsible for the reimagined Battlestar Galactica, is in a reimagining mood—and is reportedly in the early stages of developing a new take on the '60s western adventure The Wild, Wild West.

Of course, this isn't the first time that the classic series, which starred Robert Conrad and Ross Martin, has gotten a makeover: Will Smith and Kevin Kline stepped into the roles of Secret Service agents James West and Artemus Gordon in director Barry Sonnenfeld's 1999 big-budget fiasco.

The source material — which combined the romance of the Old West with some pre-steampunk sci-fi gadgetry and added some witty banter and fisticuffs — still has some juice in it, even if there hasn't been a western series on network TV since Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.

Moore is still in the thick of developing his take on The Wild Wild West; it could be a while before he's ready to pitch it to networks. Let's just hope he's leaving out the giant robot spider.

While we wait, check out the show's original opening credits below.
