Ever since Syfy announced it was making an American-ized version of the BBC's Being Human, we've been looking forward to seeing what the reimagined cast would look like in action. Here they are!
Sam Witwer (Smallville) takes on the role of the vampire "Aidan" (named after actor Aidan Turner, who plays the vampire Mitchell in the original series), Sam Huntington (Superman Returns) plays "Josh" the werewolf (originally named George and played by Russell Tovey in the U.K. version), and actress Meaghan Rath (The Assistants) plays the ghost Sally (Annie, played originally by Lenora Crichlow). Mark Pellegrino (Lost, Supernatural) plays Aidan's mentor "Bishop," a character who may or may not be similar to "Herrick" in the original version.
Witwer recently told Digital Spy that his character was:
"a cross between a heroin addict and a sex addict."
"He's spent 200 years of his life being a completely amoral murderer, and now he realises that he cannot continue like that. Everything that he knows ... is patterned around feeding [and] victimising people, so he's reprogramming himself. He's a tortured individual."
However, Witwer also admitted that there were some fun aspects to playing Aidan:
"His growth was stunted from age 25 when he got turned. Now he's rediscovering all this stuff about life, so there's an odd youthfulness to the character."
Syfy's Being Human is a "re-imagining of the acclaimed U.K. series created by Toby Whithouse, [which] follows three paranormal, 20-something roommates living in Boston." The U.S. series will have a much bigger budget than its original counterpart, as well as a larger number of episodes. It is currently being filmed in Montreal and is set to air early next year.
So what do you think of those pics? And will you be watching the series?
