Star Trek, Serenity, BSG and 23 other awesome LEGO creations
We've all been there before. That picture on the box makes it look so easy. But then you realize there are 1,200 pieces too small to even pick up. Although, for most of us, creating miniature statues out of LEGO bricks can be difficult and frustrating, there are some special people out there who've gotten the skill set down to an art.
In honor of anybody who's ever wanted to finish a LEGO masterpiece but failed miserably, here's what you COULD have done had you mastered the technique. Check out our gallery of some of the coolest sci-fi LEGO creations we've ever seen.

Asgard Flagship
Artist Michael Z puts it best: "After three months of hard work and tens of thousands of pieces, my Beliskner is finally finished. ... After watching the series, I knew that I had to build the ship out of LEGOs [sic]. The result was an incredibly large and detailed ship that measured 5 feet long, 6 feet wide and 2 feet high."

Firefly Crew
Above are (from left to right): Shepard Book, Inara Serra, Kaylee Frye, Jayne Cobb, Malcolm Reynolds, Zoe and Wash, and River and Simon Tam. Its almost as if they are exact replicas!

Serenity
Artist Chris Doyle built Serenity over the course of a couple of months, "mostly an hour or two during the week after work, and a few hours each weekend. Total build time on this was probably 30 hours." We're glad he had the free time, because the end product is certainly incredible.

Battlestar Galactica
We don't have the exact specifications of this model, but it's fair to assume that it comes equipped with the ability to travel at light speed and is primarily crewed by mini-Capricans.

Alien
Simply put: wow. This is potentially the scariest LEGO creation we've found. As a matter of fact, let's keep this one out of the house.

Dune
Although there isn't an official Dune LEGO set, one fan has done a great job of creating his own Sandworm out of multicolored blocks.

Terran Battlecruiser
Based on the iconic design of the Terran Battlecruiser unit in Starcraft, this LEGO brick piece of sci-fi gaming culture was created by Flickr user Jerac.

Star Destroyer
This bad boy is no child's toy, standing at 3 feet long and 2 feet wide at the stern. That's some pretty serious machinery.

Stargate
If you are wondering where that darn universal remote control disappeared to and one of these is sitting on your bookshelf, look no further.

ED209
Let's just hope that this version of an Enforcement Droid doesn't trip and break itself.

Yamato
What are the chances that this model was built from the wreck of the LEGO version of the World War II battleship Yamato?

Starship Enterprise
What LEGO collection would be complete without a classic version of the Enterprise?

USS Defiant
From Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in 1:350 scale, measuring 61 studs long and 49 studs wide.

Back to the Future
Don't you just want to power this baby up to 88 mph and see what happens? Hopefully this engineer remembered to build a miniature flux capacitor.

Predator
This bust of the Predator is replete with crablike mouth fangs, sinuous dreadlocks and day-glo alien blood.

Hoth & AT-ATs
What you are looking at is a 5-foot-by-10-foot LEGO recreation of the battle at Hoth, from The Empire Strikes Back. The entire display consists of nearly 60,000 pieces and has cool features such as 50 real lights and a remote-controlled mechanism that deploys troops from the AT-ATs.

Battlestar Galactica Fighters & Fighter Bay
While you can't yet buy your very own set of Battlestar Galactica Lego Bricks, several fans have done the next best thing and created Lego versions of Vipers (Mark 2 and Mark 7), the flight deck and even the Galactica herself (though this one is from the old show).

Discovery
This is certainly one impressive LEGO creation. It was over a year in the making and measures 185 cm (6 feet 1 inch) in length.

Dalek
If only this model were programmed to say, "Exterminate!" Though that may freak out the kids.
Chestburster
Feel that slight nausea? The sudden shortness of breath? Chest pains, you say? If these symptoms sound familiar to you, then you may be infected by a Chestburster. But don't worry, it's probably just a cold. (Or is it?)

Terminator
The artist really covered all of the main points with this model: scary-looking glowing red eyes, teeth and gears. Now all that's missing is a voice box spitting out classic Arnold lines.

Bird of Prey
Even though this Bird of Prey is a digitally constructed LEGO creation, we figured it was awesome enough to include anyway. Measuring in at 13â²5â³ x 11â² x 5â²1", this mega sculpture is the culmination of two years of work.

Boba Fett Armor
Yes, we know what you're thinking. Why hasn't anyone made wearable Boba Fett armor completely from LEGO bricks? Well, folks, it's finally here, and the suit includes the jetpack, along with the rifle that has supposedly claimed the heads of many criminals of the galaxy far, far away.

Archie
Not everyone seemed to loved the Watchmen movie, but that doesn't take any of the awesomeness away from this replica of the Owlship.

Master Chief
The use of rectangular bricks here makes Master Chief look pretty pixelated. Turn on you Xbox for the higher-res version.
