William Gibson calls Star Wars 'retrograde' sci-fi, prefers Blade Runner

William Gibson's Neuromancer—winner of the Hugo, Nebula and Philip K. Dick Awards—is finally heading for the big screen. And who knows? Maybe thanks to Splice's Vincenzo Natali, it could become a classic. But what does Gibson think about a couple of other classic sci-fi films?

The author just let us know over on his Twitter feed. While comparing the Tron vision of cyberspace with his own, Gibson wrote:

But, aside from the first film's theatrical release, I never liked Star Wars either. Thought it was retrograde. I'm a Blade Runner guy

Based on Gibson's writing, yeah, we always had him pegged as a Blade Runner guy. But what you think?
