The cool Green Hornet Easter egg Seth Rogen told us about

You may want to look away, because I'm about to embarrass myself in public. There I was, hanging with Seth Rogen at the Green Hornet party here in San Diego, having a nice chat about his latest trailer, when I suddenly asked him something so geeky I actually began my question with an apology for asking him the geekiest question he was likely to get all Comic-Con.

See, I've always been a fan of the Green Hornet, and not just the kind who likes the cool car, the mask and the sidekick. No, I'm one of those annoying guys who knows the trivia about the character that most people who are going to see this movie don't really care about. So when I found myself at a private party held in Britt Reid's garage (actually the Candy Factory in Petco Park), surrounded by props from the film, including a bullet-riddled Black Beauty, I decided—this is my chance to ask him something I really HAVE to know about the movie.

So I asked, "What about the Lone Ranger?"

Some of you may be asking yourself the same question right about now. (Not all of you—because I know I'm not the only obsessive Green Hornet trivia fan here—but some.) So for those who don't know, let me share this awesome franchise fact—The Green Hornet is the Lone Ranger's great-nephew.

See, the character of Dan Reid on the Lone Ranger radio program was the same Dan Reid who appeared on the Green Hornet as Britt Reid's father.

After I revealed myself as a true Green Hornet geek by asking Rogen whether that fact was going to be referenced in the film, he told me ... yes. But it's not going to be as obvious as originally intended. At one point, there was going to be a line in the script in which his character mentions a detective great-uncle, though not by name. But now, we're instead going to get something a bit more subtle. (Or maybe not so subtle. You decide.)

Rogen told me that in one scene, there'll just happen to be a Lone Ranger poster hanging on the wall. One that Jay Chou (Kato) will take down and smash over Rogen's head!

Will that scene make it into the final cut of the film? Who knows? But Green Hornet (and Lone Ranger) fans like me sure hope so!
