Daniel Radcliffe to Comic-Con fans: “I apologize”

Warner Bros. TOLD us that none of the cast members of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows would be present at Comic-Con. Not everyone believed that, though, and many fans arrived in San Diego sure the announcement was a ruse so we'd all be caught off guard when the stars DID show up. Didn't quite work out that way, though.

Enough of the audience members who filed into the massive Hall H to see footage from the upcoming Potter installment were disappointed when Radcliffe failed to show that the star thought it necessary to step forward and speak out to his fans.

"I apologize to all the wishful thinkers for my disappointing non-presence," Radcliffe told the Los Angeles Times. Radcliffe felt for the fans who believed the rumors he might attend, saying, "Really? Oh, God, I had no idea. I suppose it's like when I'm at Reading Festival and I hear that suddenly some amazing band is going to play a surprise gig and then it turns out to be total fiction."

As for where Radcliffe actually was during Comic-Con —he was off was celebrating his 21st birthday in St. Petersburg, Russia.
