3 famous sci-fi roles Leonardo DiCaprio rejected before Inception

Some blockbuster sci-fi films might have been VERY different had Leonardo DiCaprio chosen to sign on. We're still trying to wrap our brains around what these famous franchises would have been like with a little Leo magic, but check out what he revealed in a recent interview and let us know what you think.

Catching up with shortlist about Inception, DiCaprio shared info on three casting near-misses.

Batman Forever

"I never screen-tested," said DiCaprio about rumors of his involvement with Batman Forever. "I had a meeting with Joel Schumacher. It was just one meeting, and, no, I didn't end up doing it."

But did he actually want the role of Robin?

"I don't think I did, no," he said. "As I recall, I took the meeting but didn't want to play the role. Joel Schumacher is a very talented director, but I don't think I was ready for anything like that."

Star Wars

"I did have a meeting with George Lucas about [Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequels] as well, yes." he said. But as for what happened: "Same scenario [laughs]. ... Again, just didn't feel ready to take that dive. At that point."

"That was another one of those situations, similar to Robin, where I didn't feel ready to put on that suit yet," said DiCaprio of the offer to play Spider-Man before Tobey Maguire took the part. "They got in touch with me."

But DiCaprio hasn't totally rejected the idea of playing a superhero someday: "You never know. You never know. They're getting better and better as far as complex characters in these movies. I haven't yet. But no, I don't rule out anything."

So, if had DiCaprio had felt "ready," we could have seen him as—Robin. Anakin Skywalker. Spider-Man.

How different do you think those films would have turned out with DiCaprio involved rather than the actors actually cast?
