News briefs: Green Lantern villain; Lost Patrol

Peter Sarsgaard in in talks to play the villain in Green Lantern, The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog reported; Sarsgaard will play Dr. Hector Hammond, the pathologist son of a senator who becomes infused with psychic powers when he discovers a meteor.

Stephen Norrington (Blade, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) will write and direct The Lost Patrol, a supernatural action thriller set against the backdrop of World War II, Deadline Hollywood reported.

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man sequel may be dead, but Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark, the $50 million Broadway musical by Bono and The Edge, is back on but delayed until the fall, the New York Post reported; the show was supposed to open in March but stalled ran aground when producer David Garfinkle failed to come with the money. Bono's longtime business partner, Michael Cohl, stepped in and The financing is now in place.
