We've got the exclusive debut of the trailer for the independent sci-fi comedy Drones, which you can think of as The Office meets The Day the Earth Stood Still.
The movie, which debuts at the Slamdance Film Festival next week, has quite a geek pedigree: It stars May's uber-creepy but awesome Angela Bettis, features cast members from TV's beloved Freaks & Geeks and was directed by former Buffy the Vampire Slayer castmates Amber Benson ("Tara") and Adam Busch ("Warren").

Buffy Alums' Premiere New SciFi Comedy "Drones".
Finish Films announces the WORLD PREMIERE of their feature film DRONES co-directed by BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER stars Amber Benson and Adam Busch.
The film, a rare mix of office comedy and quirky science fiction, reunites actors Samm Levine (INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS) and Dave (Gruber) Allen (THE NAKED TRUCKER & T-BONE SHOW), who starred together in Judd Apatow's much heralded NBC series FREAKS AND GEEKS.
Star-crossed lovers Amy and Brian, played by Angela Bettis (MAY, GIRL INTERRUPTED) and Jonathan Woodward (FIREFLY, BUFFY, ANGEL, WIT) embark on a unique interoffice romance which sparks repercussions far outside the copy room. Also staring are Paul F. Tompkins (BEST WEEK EVERY, MR. SHOW) and James Urbaniak (THE VENTURE BROTHERS, AMERICAN SPLENDOR). The film features original songs from singer/songwriter, Dan Bern (WALK HARD: THE DEWEY COX STORY).
DRONES will have its WORLD PREMIERE at the Slamdance Film Festival on SATURDAY JANUARY 23rd at 5PM, with an encore screening JANUARY 25th at 10AM. DRONES is one of two feature films by Finish Films co-owners Todd Gilbert and Jordan Kessler, to be selected from over 5000 submissions to screen in competition at this years Slamdance Film Festival, which runs from January 21-28 in Park City, UT.
Brian Dilks is an Office Drone. He spends his days at OmniLink in comforting monotony: facilitating the movement of product around the country, faxing, copying, joking with his best friend, Clark, and harmlessly flirting with fellow cubicle-mate, Amy.
But how well does anyone really know the people they work with?
When Brian discovers an improbable secret about his best friend, everything in Brian's world changes and his safe life of workplace detachment is no longer an option.
Shocked out of his mind-numbing routine by this new discovery, Brian throws himself into a star-crossed romance with Amy--yet close encounters of the office kind, like sales or intergalactic war, is an uncertain business.
Amber Benson (co-director) is best known for her role of Tara Maclay in the highly popular TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Currently, Amber has co-directed Finish Films' Drones, about a man who discovers a universal threat to his life, job and the planet. The film will be debuting at the 2010 Slamdance Film Festival. She has also directed Lovers, Liars and Lunatics, Ghosts of Albion: Legacy, and Chance, which won the Audience Choice Award for Best Feature at the 2002 Birmingham Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival.
Adam Busch (co-director) can currently be seen co-starring in Cummings Farm and Drones, for which he also co-directed. Both films will be debuting at the 2010 Slamdance Film Festival. Additionally, Busch has appeared in such films as American Dreamz, The Professional, Magic Rock, and Sugar & Spice.
Samm Levine, from the SAG and Golden Globe nominated film Inglourious Basterds, currently stars in Finish Film's Drones, about a man who discovers a universal threat to his life, job and the planet. He has previously appeared in such films as I Love You, Beth Cooper and Sydney White. Levine also starred in the popular Judd Apatow NBC TV series Freaks and Geeks.
Angela Bettis can currently be seen in Finish Films' Drones, which will debut at the 2010 Slamdance Film Festival. Bettis can also be seen in the 2010 Sundance film, All My Friends are Funeral Singers. She has previously appeared in Girl Interrupted, May, Bless The Child, The Circle and The Ponder Heart, in addition to numerous television guest spots.
Jonathan Woodward has appeared in such films as The Notorious Bettie Page and Pipe Dream, and can currently be seen starring in Drones, which will debut at the 2010 Slamdance Film Festival. He has also guest starred in numerous TV series' including NCIS, Angel, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Tangi Miller is an Image Award nominated actress, and has appeared alongside Tyler Perry in Madea's Family Reunion. She can currently be seen in Drones, one of two of Finish Films inaugural films that will be premiering at the 2010 Slamdance Film Festival. Miller also co-starred in the popular TV series Felicity.
