Shaun of the Dead director ripped off by The Times

Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright wrote a powerful tribute on his blog to actor Edward Woodward (The Wicker Man, The Equalizer), who died earlier this week.

We're not the only ones who were moved by it. So were the editors of The Times—who reprinted the essay in edited form without asking Wright's permission.

"Is it appropriate for a national newspaper to reprint my personal tribute to Edward Woodward as if it were an article written for them?" Wright tweeted today. "They just lifted it from my blog without asking. And cut off the entire end section about my last meeting with him ... I'm not talking about quotes. Am talking about the entire article. But with edits they made that make me look ill informed and unfeeling ... Perhaps they would like to send the fee they would pay the commissioned writer of such an article to Edward's memorial... ."

Sounds like a job for The Equalizer!

You can read the tribute as it was intended on Wright's blog.
