Truman Capote autographed a book to ... Harry Potter?

A first edition of Truman Capote's 1968 children's book The Thanksgiving Visitor signed by the author to Harry Potter is listed on the site of used-book seller AbeBooks for $1,000, according to the Los Angeles Times. The inscription reads, "For Harry Potter with gratitude, Truman Capote January 1978."

Capote, best known for In Cold Blood and Breakfast at Tiffany's, died six years before J.K. Rowling even thought of Harry Potter, and the boy sorcerer wouldn't see print until 1997. So what's the reason for the autograph?

The seller, Brier Rose Books of Teaneck, NJ, explained the coincidence by saying that "this Harry Potter was a physician in Bergen County, NJ."
