Is there going to be an 'extra' Twilight movie?

Too much of a good thing?

Summit Entertainment is reportedly mulling the idea of splitting the fourth and final book of Stephenie Meyer's best-selling Twilight series, Breaking Dawn, into two movies to finish out the franchise.

Is this good for fans? If you love Twilight, you'd presumably get more of what you want.

Or is this part a trend by studios to cash in on their hot properties? (Warner splitting the last Harry Potter, book, the Deathly Hallows, into two films and New Line/Warner splitting The Hobbit into two and maybe even three.)

And is there really enough story in Breaking Dawn to warrant two films, or will a fifth one just seem like so much padding?

The good news—at least if you were a fan of the first Twilight movie—is that the studio will keep that movie's screenwriter, Melissa Rosenberg, on for all installments, according to a report on E! Online:

Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg will definitely be finishing what she started when it comes to adapting the fourth and final book of the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn. Deep Twi tells us that, although it won't officially be confirmed for a while, Melissa is tapped to finish out the films. ...

Like we assured all Twi-fans last month, the entire crew—Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, etc.—will also be back to grace the big screen for the fourth time, too.

Summit hasn't made up its mind yet about whether to split Breaking Dawn. One complicating factor: If they do a fifth movie, then someone other than Rosenberg would have to write it.

But if you care about Twilight and can't bear to wait for the final resolution of the series ... or if you can't get enough Edward-Bella-Jacob and would simply die for a fifth movie ... well, here's your chance to let them know!
