James Marsters to play a terrorist in Syfy's Caprica

Buffy the Vampire Slayer writing alumna Jane Espenson has enlisted her former Buffy cast member James Marsters to join the cast of Syfy's upcoming Battlestar Galactica prequel series Caprica, Entertainment Weekly reported.

EW's Michael Ausiello reported:

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Buffy all-star James Marsters is joining the Battlestar Galactica prequel for a sizeable arc.

Marsters will play a dangerous terrorist leader by the name of Barnabus Greeley in a minimum of three episodes. Driven by desires both moralistic and carnal, Barnabus is as lethal as he is unpredictable.

Marsters, as we know, played Spike the vampire in Buffy and its spinoff series, Angel, and has appeared in lots of sci-fi and genre TV shows and movies in the years since.

Marsters is only the latest high-profile actor to join the series; earlier, we heard that funnyman Patton Oswalt had also signed on.

Espenson is executive producer and show runner on Caprica.

Caprica will kick off with a two-hour premiere on Jan. 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT and will air Fridays at 10 p.m.
