Sarah Connor's Thomas Dekker to join A Nightmare on Elm Street reports that Thomas Dekker (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) is in final negotiations to join the cast of Platinum Dunes' A Nightmare on Elm Street remake.

Dekker, who played John Connor on the Fox TV series, is being cast as Jesse, a jock on the swim team, in the new Nightmare, which will also star Kyle Gallner and Watchmen's Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger.

Samuel Bayer directs the movie, which begins shooting next month in Chicago. Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing. Warner Brothers/New Line will release the film on April 16, 2010.
