Battlestar Galactica's Jamie Bamber recently shed the uniform of Lee "Apollo" Adama as part of a People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals campaign to help save black bears killed for their fur.
When the British-born actor learned that Canadian black bears were being shot and killed so that their fur could be used to make ceremonial caps for the Queen's Guards, he quickly decided to strip down for a poster labeled "Bare Skin, Not Bearskin."
"It's not particularly freezing outside Buckingham Palace," said Bamber. "You could wear something else. And you could certainly wear faux fur."
PETA has also posted a video interview with Bamber on its site.
The isn't the first time that a Battlestar Galactica star aided PETA on an animal rights issue—co-star Tricia Helfer stepped up to remind pet owners to take care of their cats via a poster issued as part of the "Be an Angel for Animals" campaign.
