Guinness compiles the superhero game records you never knew

The Guinness World Records 2009: Gamer's Edition hits shelves today, with a special section devoted solely to some great superhero and comic-book-based video-game records, the publishers announced.

Among the records in the new book:

The first superhero game of all time: In 1979, Atari introduced Superman.
The most Marvel characters in a Spider-Man game: The 2000 PlayStation Spider-Man featured 15 heroes and villains.
The first superhero first-person shooter game: X-Men: Ravages of Apocalypse was released for the PC in 1997 and was the first officially licensed superhero entry in the FPS genre.

The first edition of Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition was published in February 2008. The latest book is available today with a suggested retail price of $21.95.
