The Book of Eli trailer goes live

The trailer for the new post-apocalyptic drama by the Hughes Brothers, The Book of Eli has gone live at the Apple QuickTime Movie Trailers site.

The Book of Eli stars Denzel Washington as a wanderer who protects a mysterious book that could be the salvation of mankind. He crosses paths with a man named Carnegie (played by Gary Oldman), the ruthless boss of a small town who seeks to take the book away from him. Michael Gambon of the Harry Potter films, Jennifer Beals, Ray Stevenson and Mila Kunis also star.

The movie is directed by Albert and Allen Hughes, the twin-brother directing team that made Menace II Society, Dead Presidents, and the Jack the Ripper thriller From Hell, based on the Alan Moore graphic novel and starring Johnny Depp. The script is by game developer Gary Whitta, who had been tapped to write a screenplay for a live-action Akira film for Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way Productions.

The Book of Eli opens January 15, 2010.
