The sci-fi movies you talked about most on Facebook this year

We already know what movies you couldn't shut up about on Twitter in 2009—but what about over on Facebook? According to a report released yesterday by the social networking site, the movie that created the biggest spike in discussion was New Moon, the second film in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga.

For the first time, Facebook has decided to introduce what it's calling a year-end "Facebook Memology," by mapping the top trending words and phrases in U.S. status updates for 2009. And while we found it fascinating to learn that Christopher Walken caused an uptick in talk about Lady Gaga's song "Poker Face" (and you know why, right?), what interested us most was the list of hot sci-fi films.

New Moon narrowly edged out the big summer movies Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Also big movies, but not quite up to those big three—Star Trek, The Hangover and Paranormal Activity.

So Twitter users preferred chattering about the young wizards of Harry Potter while Facebook friends went more for the vamps and werewolves of New Moon—but what did you think?
