The 8 sci-fi movies that dominated social networking in 2009

Young wizards trounced sexy vamps, at least according to Twitter's top trending topics of 2009—and both left starship captains and robotic alien invaders in the dust. Twitter's list of the top 10 movies you talked about this year, as revealed by a post on the company's blog, was topped by Harry Potter, which was followed by New Moon, District 9, Paranormal Activity, Star Trek, Transformers 2, Watchmen and G.I. Joe.

Poor Slumdog Millionaire was the only non-fantastic film to make the list. And we have no idea what True Blood is doing with the movies—the HBO series should be over in the TV category with the rest of the sci-fi shows!

As for the accurately categorized TV Shows, Dollhouse led the sci-fi pack, followed by Battlestar Galactica, then Lost.

Over in the People topic, Christian Bale was the ninth-most-talked-about person of 2009, but we're pretty sure that had more to do with with his ranting on the set of Terminator Salvation than anything that happened on the screen.
